JR West, whose business performance has deteriorated due to the effects of the new coronavirus, has announced a policy to reduce the number of students graduating next spring to less than a quarter of the average year.

JR West announced on the 1st the recruitment policy for those who will graduate from universities next spring.

According to this, the number of new graduates hired is about 130, which is less than a quarter of the average of around 600.

Of these, about 30 are general employees, and the other 100 are technical professionals called professionals, and we do not hire station staff or crew members.

Due to the impact of the new coronavirus, JR West expects a final deficit of 240 billion yen for the entire group in this fiscal year's earnings forecast.

In order to rebuild our business, in addition to curbing hiring, we are also reviewing timetables and reducing station counters to reduce costs.
