New Year Air Cargo Performance "Bright"

  Our reporter Cui Guoqiang

At 10:30 am on February 21st, the reporter saw at Beijing Daxing International Airport that the domestic air cargo terminal of China Southern Airlines Cargo Logistics Company was very busy, and the staff were conducting security inspections for the outbound cargo of CZ6188, which took off at 3:05 pm.

"During the Spring Festival, a total of 683 inbound and outbound flights were guaranteed, with an inbound and outbound cargo volume of about 350 tons." Shi Dewu, director of the safety and quality operation office of Daxing Cargo Station, Cargo Station Division, China Southern Airlines Cargo Logistics Company, told reporters that the domestic departure of Daxing Cargo Station on February 21 There are 95 cargo flights. Compared with the 21 flights on February 11 before the Spring Festival, cargo flights have increased significantly.

As for the changes in freight transportation, Shi Dewu knew well: Before the Spring Festival, Daxing Cargo Station mainly transported vaccines and medicines; this year's Spring Festival, affected by the "New Year in situ" factor, the demand for supplies is stronger than in previous years, and the main transportation is gifts, express mail, etc. ; Recently, the volume of cargo flights has further increased, and the pace of resuming work and production has accelerated.

Zhengzhou Airport's cargo business is also booming.

As of February 18, Zhengzhou Airport had completed a total of 91,500 tons of cargo, a year-on-year increase of 117.7%; of which 67,200 tons in international areas, a year-on-year increase of 201.6%; all-cargo flights increased by 122% year-on-year, and all-cargo aircraft cargo volume increased by 194.5% year-on-year.

"The cargo business of Zhengzhou Airport has grown rapidly, mainly due to the great changes in the structure of air cargo sources, and the rapid increase in transportation demand for epidemic prevention materials, home economy, fast fashion, express mail and small parcels. At the same time, international passenger flights have largely stagnated and belly cabin capacity It has not yet recovered, Zhengzhou Airport has a strong advantage in the development model of all-cargo aircraft, international and regional cargo." Chang Xiaotao, chairman of Henan Air Cargo Development Co., Ltd. believes that the high demand for all-cargo aircraft capacity will continue in 2021 .

In terms of price, the price of cargo space increased significantly year-on-year.

Recently, the freight market price of the European route from Zhengzhou is about 30 yuan/kg, and the market price of the American route is about 35 yuan/kg. In the same period last year, the market price of the European route was about 15 yuan/kg. It is about 18 yuan/kg.

In the New Year this year, air cargo performed well.

According to data released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, during the Spring Festival this year, the number of cargo flights has increased significantly compared with the previous two years. There are 2,553 international, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan cargo flights, an increase of 212.48% over the same period during the 2020 Spring Festival holiday.

The substantial increase in the number of cargo flights during the Spring Festival is directly related to the initiative of the civil aviation industry to adjust the cargo capacity structure and smooth the domestic and international dual cycles.

Civil aviation veteran Lin Zhijie told reporters that in the past, 70% of international air cargo traffic was completed through the belly compartment of passenger aircraft.

However, under the epidemic situation, the volume of international passenger flights has been greatly reduced, and the capacity of belly cabin has dropped significantly.

In order to make up for the gap in international cargo capacity, the civil aviation industry has adopted the form of "passenger-to-cargo", temporarily converting passenger aircraft into cargo aircraft to transport international cargo.

In 2020, in the case of large-scale suspension of passenger aircraft, the cargo and mail transportation volume completed by China's civil aviation will still reach 6.766 million tons, which is equivalent to 89.8% of 2019.

According to Qi Qi, associate professor of Guangzhou Civil Aviation Vocational and Technical College, various countries and regions around the world have organized their own air capacity and leased the capacity of Chinese airlines to carry out transportation, which is the fundamental reason for the surge in air cargo volume during the Spring Festival this year.

"During the Spring Festival, the international epidemic is still unclear. As a global manufacturing factory, my country has a huge production capacity of anti-epidemic materials including masks, protective clothing, ventilators, test strips, vaccines, etc. The government encourages the provision of related materials in various ways. Countries and regions most in need. The most efficient method of international transportation of anti-epidemic and anti-epidemic materials is air freight." Qi Qi said.

Experts believe that civil aviation cargo is an important part of ensuring the stability of the international industrial chain and supply chain.

If the spread of the global new crown pneumonia epidemic has not been fundamentally reversed this year, the international air transportation of epidemic prevention and anti-epidemic materials will still be the main line.

Domestic strategic needs and international transportation needs will both benefit the development of civil aviation cargo flights in 2021.

my country's air cargo is good, but there are still areas that still need to be worked hard.

"Compared with international giants, the gap in my country's air cargo is not only in the capacity of all-cargo aircraft, but more importantly in the delivery capacity of international cargo." Lin Zhijie said that my country also needs to build its own international air transportation network.

Qi Qi believes that the resource bottlenecks for the development of air cargo are on the ground and in the air.

The ground is the resources and operational efficiency of air cargo stations. The outstanding problems are international and overseas, and the capacity needs to be improved; the air is the capacity of large all-cargo aircraft, especially intercontinental air cargo sent to Europe, North America, South America, and Africa. For the cargo aircraft fleet, although domestic airlines have adopted "passenger-to-cargo" or "passenger-cargo" solutions, the supply still cannot meet demand.

In the future, we should focus on making up for the shortcomings of air cargo in accordance with goal orientation.
