Restaurants and karaoke stores, where the number of customers is decreasing due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, rent out seats and private rooms in the store as spaces for remote work, and the use of services that match stores and users is expanding.

IT companies in Tokyo provide corporations with a service that allows them to use seats and private rooms in izakaya and karaoke shops as spaces for remote work at a fixed monthly rate.

It is used for online meetings, etc. to meet the needs of people who have difficulty in remote work due to their small home or anxiety about their families.

Tomoo Endo, director of Clipline, which provides the service, said, "I want to help restaurants and karaoke stores where the number of customers is decreasing."

These services are also handled by group companies of the major trading company "Mitsui & Co., Ltd."

By using the app, even individuals can reserve remote work locations from 100 restaurants, mainly in Tokyo.

Depending on the store, you can buy drinks at a bargain price, so services that match stores that are suffering from a decrease in customers and people who want to secure a place for remote work are expanding.

Karaoke store sales are down 60% ...

A nationwide karaoke chain with more than 500 stores nationwide is also registered for the matching service, and private karaoke rooms are rented out for remote work.

In addition to increasing the number of small private rooms for a small number of customers, we are also investing in actively attracting remote work users, such as introducing equipment that displays a computer screen on a monitor for online meetings.

Since the chain has closed at 8:00 pm in the target area since the state of emergency in January, sales have fallen by about 60% compared to the same period last year, and it has been hit hard.

By increasing the number of users of remote work, we hope to increase sales during the daytime on weekdays.

Hitomi Baba of the General Affairs Department of Karaoke Manekineko says, "We would like to actively consider services that can propose various usages so that customers other than karaoke can visit us."
