The case dates back to the years after Israel's creation in 1948. Thousands of babies have been taken from their birth parents, immigrants of Yemeni origin and other Jewish communities in the Arab world.

Doctors then claimed that these babies died of illness.

But the bodies were never returned to the families.

One of the most "

painful ”of the country

For the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, it is probably one of the most “

 painful

 ”

files in the

country.

Human rights organizations have long spoken of racial discrimination.

It was claimed that the babies had been handed over for adoption to families of Western descent in Israel and abroad.

An episode of the real war between Sephardic and Ashkenazi which has been going on in Israel since the dawn of time.

Regularly, the subject comes back to the table.

There were also several commissions of inquiry without ever knowing the truth about this real tragedy.

40,000 euros

The Israeli government has therefore decided without warning to compensate the families of the missing babies.

Each family having lost a child in these circumstances will receive around 40,000 euros.

Benyamin Netanyahu admits it: the money will not repair the “

 terrible

” and “

 unbearable suffering

 ” of these families.

But the opposition says that one month before the legislative elections it is nothing more or less than crude electoral maneuvers.
