A 38% increase in citizens' marriage in Dubai last month ... and a decline in divorce

The Dubai Statistics Center reported that the number of marriage contracts registered in the Emirate of Dubai during the month of January reached 578, compared to 381 contracts during the same period in 2020, with a growth rate of about 51.7%.

A report by the center showed that marriage contracts between citizens increased during the past month, by 38.7%, compared to the same period last year, while divorce cases decreased by about 21%.

According to data issued by the Dubai Courts, the number of marriage contracts for an Emirati husband and wife amounted to 136 contracts (23.5%) of the total number of registered contracts last January. As for the total marriage contracts for an Emirati married to a non-Emirati, (including cases of Emirati women married to a non-Emirati), it reached 85 14.2% contract.

Regarding marriage contracts (non-Emirati and non-Emirati), it amounted to 357 contracts, which constituted about 61.8% of the total number of registered contracts.

According to the data, 135 divorces were recorded last month, compared to 189 incidents in the same period last year, a decrease of about 28.57%.

The number of divorce cases among citizens reached 30, at a rate of 22.2% of the total, while the number of divorce cases for a citizen married to a non-citizen (including cases of Emirati women married to a non-Emirati), 19 divorces, representing 14.1% of the total.
