Due to rising labor costs in the construction industry due to labor shortages, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has decided to raise the national average "labor unit price", which is the standard for wages for public works, by 1.2% from next month.

The increase reached a record high for the 10th consecutive year.

The unit labor price is used when estimating the construction cost of public works and is the standard of wages paid to construction workers.

The unit price is reviewed every year, but the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced that it will increase the national average by 1.2% from the current level to 20,409 yen from next month.

The unit price increase has been the highest for the 10th consecutive year since the announcement was made in 1997.

We raised it in light of the fact that labor costs are rising in order to secure a leader in the construction industry amid labor shortages.

In addition, this time, special consideration was given to the unit price calculation so that the wage level would not drop due to the spread of the new corona virus.

At a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Akabane said, "It is necessary to raise wages to secure the leaders of the construction industry. I'm looking forward to a cycle. "
