  "Either charging or on the way to charging."

  Every winter, all kinds of gag around electric vehicles all point to the reduction of cruising range.

As the performance of my country's new energy vehicle market continues to hit new highs, whether the user experience can be improved is directly related to the next development of the new energy vehicle industry, and the solution of the winter battery life problem has become particularly urgent.

  On January 26, at the 2020 industry and informatization development briefing held by the State Council Information Office, Huang Libin, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Director of the Operation Monitoring and Coordination Bureau, said that my country’s new energy vehicles are being consumed more and more. The market scale is gradually expanding, but the industry is still in the development stage. There are still problems such as high vehicle cost and inconvenient charging. The decline in low-temperature environmental performance is also one of the problems.

  Huang Libin emphasized that this is a problem that has arisen in the development of emerging industries, and it needs and can only be solved by a higher level of development.

  At present, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is organizing vehicle and power battery companies, industry institutions, and colleges and universities to carry out technical research, speeding up the development and industrialization of low-impedance film-forming additives, all-climate batteries, etc., to improve the low-temperature driving performance of electric vehicles.

  According to Huang Libin, in order to alleviate and improve the shrinkage of electric vehicles in winter, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently organized an expert seminar and introduced several targeted measures:

  Require auto companies to strengthen after-sales service and promptly resolve user demands.

Organize industry institutions to strengthen popularization of science and guide scientific use;

  Support vehicle companies and battery manufacturers to strengthen technological research, improve low-temperature driving performance of electric vehicles, and improve user experience;

  Pay close attention to the research and formulation of relevant technical specifications, accelerate the promotion and application of Chinese working conditions, clarify the performance and technical requirements of low-temperature environment products, and strengthen product access and production consistency inspections.

  Huang Libin said: “Key enterprises and industry organizations have taken active actions to release winter vehicle guidelines, increase after-sales service forces, and deploy scientific and technological research projects. With the improvement of technology and the improvement of management policies, new energy vehicles have a certain low temperature performance. Will be substantially improved."

  The performance degradation of lithium batteries in low temperature weather is the main reason for the reduction of electric vehicle mileage, but it is not the only reason, and it is not the result of battery product quality problems.

  In recent years, although many upstream and downstream companies are committed to improving the efficiency of battery use at low temperatures, progress has been slow. Under the premise that power batteries have not yet ushered in great changes, the shrinking of low-temperature battery life of electric vehicles is still a global problem.

  In addition to making efforts in battery research and development, the "replacement" mode also provides consumers with more choices.

  Ye Shengji, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, introduced that there have been many application cases for the separation and swapping of new energy vehicles in my country.

In the areas of taxis and online car-hailing, car companies such as BAIC New Energy, Space-Time Electric, Aodong New Energy, and SAIC are the main driving forces.

Regarding private cars, NIO’s separation of car and electricity and sales model dispel consumers’ concerns about difficulty in charging, expensive car purchases, and battery maintenance. More than 90% of car buyers have chosen battery leasing and car purchase financing solutions.

  Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of NIO, introduced that the second generation of NIO swap station is expected to be deployed from March to April this year. The service capacity will be four times that of the first generation swap station. Vehicles can be parked automatically, and users do not need to get off with one click. Start to change the battery automatically.

  Ye Shengji said: "The market already has the basic conditions to carry out the pilot of the car-electric separation and power exchange model. It is expected that the application of this model from the public sector to the private sector will achieve good results by 2025."
