Earlier, the head of the Bundestag Committee on Economics and Energy, Klaus Ernst, said that Germany should not discuss with the United States a "mechanism for stopping" the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Also, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas warned about the consequences of refusing to build a gas pipeline.
