Chinanews.com, Weihai, February 12 (Wang Jiaoni Yi Sichen) On the 12th, the Weihai Port Container Terminal of Shandong Port welcomed the "Big Mac" member-70-ton quayside container cranes, refreshing the port's maximum container lifting capacity Record.

Since the integrated reform and development of Shandong ports, the container business of Weihai Port has developed rapidly. On December 22, 2020, the port's container throughput exceeded the 1 million TEU mark.

With the continuous increase in container business volume, the existing production equipment of the terminal cannot meet the development needs.

"Compared with the existing quay cranes at the terminal, the new quay cranes arriving this time have a substantial increase in lifting weight. Compared with the current 61 tons, the lifting capacity is increased by 9 tons to 70 tons; the operating range is greater, and the reach is increased by 14 meters compared to 41 meters The lifting height is higher than the current 36 meters, which is 4 meters higher than the current 36 meters, and reaches 40 meters.” said Xue Qiang, deputy general manager of Shandong Port Weihai Port Qingwei Container Terminal Company.

After this new quay crane is put into use, it will strongly enhance the container operation capacity of the terminal.

It is reported that the new quay crane can meet the operation of double 20-foot full-load heavy containers, and it can also meet the operation requirements of 50,000-ton ships at Qingwei Container Terminal.

At the same time, it also applies advanced digital technology, with multiple high-tech system configurations such as intelligent lubrication, automatic fire extinguishing, all-round monitoring, intelligent situation, automatic anti-sway control, boat scanning and truck positioning.

According to the staff of Weihai Port, this new quay bridge will be commissioned at the end of March and put into use at the Qingwei Container Terminal in Weihai Port.

By then, the Weihai Port Container Terminal will be able to berth up to 6 ships at the same time for all-weather operations, which will greatly enhance the container operation capacity of the terminal.

Weihai Port enjoys a unique geographical location, and is an important container cargo transit hub for Liaodong Bay and Bohai Bay, as well as Japan and South Korea.
