In the psychological horror game "The Medium", players take on the role of young Marianne.

She has psychic abilities and can contact the spirit world.

For some time Marianne has been tormented by terrible visions - in her dreams she is followed by a child murderer.

What is it with these horror images?

To find out, Marianne has to go to an abandoned holiday camp to look for clues.

A bad accident happened in this holiday resort a few years ago.

Marianne now has to find out in the game whether her horror visions point to a crime from the past - or whether they are possibly a glimpse into the future.

In her search for clues, Marianne uses her mental powers: She has a view of our normal reality and at the same time sees the otherworld of the spirits.

If the visionary woman enters the parallel world, the screen is split in two and the players control the heroine simultaneously in two levels of existence.

That's a pretty original game mechanic.

Many puzzles cannot be solved in reality, for example, Marianne has to keep looking for clues that only the spirit world can reveal.

In addition, the investigator can leave her body completely and immerse herself in the wonderfully disturbing animated world of the dead.

Sometimes in “The Medium”, running away is the best solution

But the world of ghosts is not only very scary to look at, but also really dangerous for the heroine.

Monsters and all kinds of otherworldly creatures need to be fought with the help of Marianne's mental powers, be it with a kind of mental power attack or an energy shield.

But some creatures in the shadow world are too dangerous, so it is better to take your legs in your hand and run away.

"The Medium" is available for PC and Xbox Series X and costs around 50 euros.

The game is approved for ages 18 and over.
