The French media conglomerate Vivendi plans to bring music group Universal Music Group (UMC) to the stock exchange in Amsterdam before the end of the year.

Universal is the music label behind pop stars like Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Kanye West and Billie Eilish.

In March it will become clear whether the IPO will proceed.

The intention is to market a 60 percent interest.

Vivendi is aiming for a valuation of the company of at least $ 30 billion (almost 25 billion euros).

Vivendi already sold a large stake in Universal Music to a consortium led by the Chinese internet company Tencent Holdings at the end of 2019.

Tencent and its partners increased their stake to 20 percent in December.

On March 29, Vivendi will ask shareholders at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting to facilitate the IPO.
