Companies The great fear of SMEs: they will lose 1,100 million a week if there is a new confinement
The Pastas Gallo committee
has shown this Wednesday its rejection of the transfer of 37 employees
from the Granollers plant (Barcelona) to the factory located in El Carpio (Córdoba).
In a statement, the union sections of the UGT and CCOO of Catalonia have expressed their opposition to this measure because they understand that it involves the
"relocation of a historic company in Granollers"
, and therefore they ask that, if it is not possible to rectify this business decision , at least they are repositioned in the facilities of Granollers, Sant Vicenç dels Horts or Esparreguera.
Gallo announced a few days ago that it plans to move the production of dry pasta from its factory in Granollers (Barcelona) to its center in El Carpio (Córdoba), a change that is part of the process of
"industrial specialization"
that the company is carrying out. company.
In this way, its El Carpio factory will concentrate all the dry pasta production, while Granollers will keep fresh pasta and plates.
Bow capital
Also located in the province of Barcelona, the Esparreguera plant will focus on the manufacture of gluten-free references and the Sant Vicenç dels Horts plant - acquired in August through the purchase of the Ta-Tung brand -
will be dedicated to oriental dishes.
Pastas Gallo has been controlled by the investment fund
Proa Capital since 2019
.
In the Andalusian factory of Pastas Gallo is where all the production of dry pasta will be concentrated, in that of Granollers the production of fresh pasta, gutters and lasagna will be carried out;
that of Esparreguera (Barcelona) will specialize in gluten-free pasta, and that of Sant Vicenç dels Horts (Barcelona)

400 tons of wheat
The El Carpio factory is the largest that Pastas Gallo owns in Spain.
This is the old El Carpio Flour Factory, which the founder of Pastas Gallo, José Espona, acquired in 1958
to be used as a plant to transform cereal into pasta
.
It is also one of the most powerful in Spain, with the capacity to grind about
400 tons of wheat per day
or in the process to turn it into pasta.
The company moved
its headquarters outside of Catalonia in October 2017
, given the political situation and in reaction to a possible unilateral declaration of independence by Catalonia.
Consequently, as indicated by Pastas Gallo,
"nothing is dismantled"
, and this decision also implies a growth in activity in the factory that the company has in El Carpio and that, currently, has a staff than 122 employees.
