As noted by the regulator, in the first month of 2021, the current account surplus of the balance of payments of Russia fell to $ 6.8 billion.

"According to preliminary estimates of the Bank of Russia, in January 2021, the current account surplus of the balance of payments of the Russian Federation amounted to $ 6.8 billion against $ 10.6 billion in January 2020," the statement said.

It is clarified that the dynamics of the indicator was influenced by the contraction of the trade surplus, largely due to the reduction in exports of goods due to the less favorable price situation on the hydrocarbon market.

Merchandise imports and the cumulative negative balance of other components of the current account were close to January levels of the previous year.

Earlier, the World Bank predicted the growth of Russia's GDP in 2021 by 2.6%.
