The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety is promoting measures to strengthen hygiene management and punishment to prevent rats and cockroaches from entering restaurants.



The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced today (9th) that it has established a new facility standard to prevent the inflow of rodents and pests into food service establishments, and announced the revised bill of the Enforcement Decree of the'Food Sanitation Act' and the Enforcement Rule, which will increase the fine for negligence.



This amendment came in line with the amendment of the Food Sanitation Act, as concerns over food hygiene increased, such as the discovery of rats in leek radish, delivered with pig feet last year.



According to the amendment, if rodents and their excrement are found in food service establishments such as restaurants, the penalty imposed will increase from 500,000 won to 1 million won.



Food service establishments must also adhere to newly established facility standards to prevent rats and cockroaches from entering.



In addition, fines imposed when the establishment and operator of a group meal service do not report food poisoning or do not store preserved food are strengthened, and procedures for designating food safety management certification standards (HACCP) education and training institutions and standards for canceling the designation are also implemented. Specified in the rules.



The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said, "We will continue to strengthen food safety management that is directly related to the health of the people," and said, "We will rationally reorganize regulations that need improvement due to technological development and environmental changes."
