The mayor of Paris and the public bank BPIfrance on Monday announced the launch of a support fund of more than 80 million euros to support the tourism sector hard hit by the health crisis.

The agreement signed Monday at the end of a conference to revive the Parisian economy, bringing together economic and social actors (unions, employers' organizations, BPIfrance, the Caisse des Dépôts ...) and the Minister of Public Accounts Olivier Dussopt, should make it possible "to support VSEs and SMEs in the tourism sector by offering them a solution in quasi equity between 50,000 and 400,000" euros.

Specific support for the most affected sectors

Mayor Anne Hidalgo announced Sunday evening in an interview with Les

Echos

the mobilization by the City of a total of 1.4 billion euros in 2021 to help the economy recover.

According to Dominique Alba, director general of the Atelier parisien d'urbanisme (Apur), Ile-de-France concentrates two-thirds of French jobs in the accommodation / hotel sector and nearly half of jobs linked to restoration.

And in the region, the unemployment rate for those under 25 has increased by 32% since the start of the crisis, against 9% for the whole of France.

The mayor of Paris intends to develop specific support for the sectors most affected by the health crisis (tourism, events, culture) in order to restart the rest of the economy "faster".

With 30% of national GDP, the Ile-de-France economy is "an essential weight", she stressed.

The City of Paris has also entered into a partnership with the Banque des Territoires, a branch of the Caisse des Dépôts, to lead to the creation of a "commercial real estate" which will have as its object the temporary repurchase of Parisian assets.

"The level of aid is higher in Paris than elsewhere"

"The level of aid is higher in Paris than elsewhere", replied Olivier Dussopt to the criticisms induced by the Parisian majority concerning state aid.

The latter has, according to the minister, committed 3.1 billion euros for partial unemployment in Paris since March 2020, and 1.4 billion euros in aid under the solidarity fund for companies.

With a sum of nearly 10,000 euros on average per company, Paris is thus, according to the minister's office, the metropolitan department whose companies are the most helped.
