The economic vice president,

Nadia Calviño

, has disavowed this Monday the European debt cancellation proposal signed by, among others, the president of the PSOE,

Cristina Narbona

and the Secretary of State of Podemos,

Nacho Álvarez

.

"It is not productive at this time to open debates that divert attention from what is the priority, economic growth," he said in Barcelona where he appeared at a meeting organized by the

Círculo de Economía.

Calviño has stressed several times

that "the absolute priority is economic recovery" and that "coordination" must be maintained between the

European Central Bank

and European governments without opening debates "that do not contribute" to this objective.

Calviño had initially remained silent on Friday's cancellation proposal that is made by a hundred economists from different countries, although none with the political weight of Narbona and the economic head of Podemos.

Calviño has ended up reacting after the fierce rejection expressed on Sunday by the president of the ECB herself,

Christine Lagarde

.

During his speech at the Cercle, he received multiple questions from the association he chairs

Xavier Faus

on whether there will be direct aid to the sectors hardest hit by the crisis.

The vice president has assured that there have already been them "and in very important figures", but emphasizing that "the communities and municipalities are the best placed for that".

However, it has opened the door to more measures from the central government, but without any precision.

"We have to see what additional measures can be effective."
