In 2020, Shandong’s agricultural exports were RMB 125.74 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%, accounting for 23.9% of China’s total agricultural exports.

Representative of Shandong Provincial People's Congress, Zhao Xuchun, secretary of the Shouguang Municipal Party Committee, said that since its physical operation in 2018, the National Vegetable Quality Standards Center has now formed a vegetable standard system for 14 categories and 182 categories.

Relying on the center, Shouguang started with cucumbers, carrots and other single products, and matched vegetable quality standards with Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, and Central Asia, and accelerated the formation of mutually recognized standards and procedures.

Shouguang will also open up direct international shipping routes to Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East at an appropriate time, innovate and implement new modes such as multimodal transportation and customized transportation, and create a new era of "sea vegetable road".

Shandong is a large province that uses seed, but the number of scientific and technological seed industry enterprises is small, and independent innovation capabilities are insufficient. The seed industry R&D collaborative innovation mechanism and commercial breeding system have not yet been established."
