Officials in commercial centers and retail outlets reported that the offers of the 26th session of the Dubai Shopping Festival, which recently ended its activities, reflected positively on increasing the sales of the retail sector in the centers, by rates ranging between 30 and 40%.

They indicated to Emirates Today that the last session of the festival, which lasted for seven weeks, and witnessed the participation of more than 900 brands and more than 3,500 stores, reactivated sales in the sector, especially as it kept pace with the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, pointing out that the great proportions Of the turnout rates during the discounts of the session, which ranged between 25% and more than 75%, were concentrated in clothing products, electronics, perfumes, shoes and bags, in addition to food consumables in stores.

In detail, the director of public relations at the "Arabian Center" Commercial Center, Ahmed Youssef, said that «the offers of the activities of the 26th session of the Dubai Shopping Festival, which recently ended its work, had many positive effects on the retail sector in commercial centers, which witnessed rates A significant increase in sales estimated at between 30 and 40%, supported by the large offers and discounts included in the festival’s offers, which averaged between 25 and 75%, and at the end of the festival, the number of stores reached 90%.

He added that “one of the most important factors that supported the revival of retail trade in malls, also during the festival period, was the lack of travel by a large number of residents and citizens, due to the changes imposed by the (Corona) pandemic, which increased the demand for shopping in malls during the festival period, to great proportions. And arrived in several periods of more than previous years ».

Youssef explained that «the other factor that promoted the revitalization of the retail trade sector is the reconnection of a large number of international destinations, and the reception of a large number of tourists who have appeared significantly in various shopping centers in Dubai, in addition to the tightening of precautionary safety measures applied in commercial centers. It enhanced the confidence of many families, and contributed to attracting a large number of shoppers, whether tourists or residents.

He pointed out that "the products of clothing, perfumes, bags and leather products, were the most dominating the interests of consumers, in addition to the great activity witnessed by restaurants and stores offering ready-made coffee."

For his part, Director of the Corporate Communication Department at the Lulu Commercial Centers Group, Nanda Kumar, said, “The performances of the 26th session of the Dubai Shopping Festival have greatly stimulated the sales of the retail sector in Dubai, which was noticeably shown during the periods of the festival performances. With the growth of sales in the retail outlets located in the commercial centers, by an estimated 30%, pointing out that "consumer demand focuses on products for ready-to-wear clothes, shoes, electronics, and food consumables."

He added that «the great importance of the festival session during the current year, that it came during the circumstances and repercussions of the (Corona) pandemic, which supported indicators of recovery from these repercussions and the strengthening of retail sales.
