The validity of the 2020 restaurant tickets, which ran until the end of February, will be extended until August 31, 2021 due to the health crisis, according to a decree published this Wednesday in

the Official Journal

.

The Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire announced this extension in early December, indicating that the measure would "give back 700 million euros in purchasing power to restaurateurs", while the reopening of these establishments will not is not being considered by the government until mid-February at the earliest.

Bruno Le Maire then specified that the tickets could be used for take-out meals (“click-and-collect”) or for deliveries.

The decree published in the Official Journal on Wednesday confirms that "the expiry date for meal vouchers issued in 2020" is "extended from March 1 to August 31, 2021". This additional period thus makes it possible "to encourage the use of meal vouchers in restaurants, hotel-restaurants and owners of similar drinking establishments, and thus to respond, in the context of the health crisis, to the economic difficulties of these establishments, ”states the decree.

The use of restaurant tickets is limited to a maximum amount of 38 euros per day, it is recalled.

The tickets can be used on Sundays and public holidays, but only in restaurants and not in supermarkets.
