Animal, Torque Drive, Complete, Absolute, Extra Pro: Dyson offers its current cylinder vacuum cleaner V11 in many versions, all of them with melodious names.

Now, with the Outsize, there is a new offshoot of the V11, where the name says it all: Everything about it is oversized.

Vacuum motor, dust container, floor nozzle, everything is extra large - for everyone who wants to vacuum more in less time.

How well the “bigger, faster, stronger” concept works is revealed by “Computer Bild” in a practical test.

Dyson Outsize: This is new on the XXL vacuum cleaner

The differences to the V11 Absolute Extra Pro are obvious - and in the hand: The cleaning aid and especially its handle have grown again.

Above all, this should make it easier for those who have to plow large living spaces quickly and without interruption.

With a capacity of 1.9 liters, the Outsize houses the largest dust box that Dyson has ever installed in a cordless vacuum cleaner.

There is 2.5 times as much dirt in there as in the "small" predecessor.

To catch the dirt, Dyson has given the newcomer a more powerful motor.

He wants to hold out for up to an hour at a time - but only in the less powerful "Eco mode".

The battery level and remaining time can be read at any time on the small, colorful display in the handpiece of the vacuum cleaner.

With maximum suction power in "boot mode", the cleaning time in the practical test was reduced to just under nine minutes.

The extra-wide, self-rotating floor nozzle at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner comes in handy here.

This means that fewer “trains” are needed to vacuum large areas.

The V11 Absolute Extra Pro lasted even longer because it came with a removable battery.

That is missing in the scope of delivery of the Outsize.

Size comparison: With the outsize (rear), the dust box and motor in the handle have grown.

This also puts more weight on the scales than the Absolute Extra Pro (front)

It goes without saying that the XXL format is also reflected in the weight.

The handpiece alone including the battery (without tube and floor nozzle) weighs a full 2.5 kilograms - the V11 Absolute Extra Pro weighs two kilograms.

Pushing this over a heavy carpet, for example, can put a lot of strain on the arm.

How long can a petite person hold out?

With the strong testers, the fingers got tired in front of the arm, which had to press the suction button continuously during cleaning due to the lack of a locking button.

New Dyson vacuum cleaner goes to work with high suction

"Powerful Hyperdymium motor, 18 cyclones, 125,000 revolutions per minute and centrifugal forces of more than 79,000 G": This is how Dyson praises the suction power of the new cleaning aid.

The practical test shows that the outsize actually worked impressively.

But that also applied to the V11 Absolute Extra Pro.

Dust and dirt were easily vacuumed up on wooden and hard floors.

For particularly coarse dirt, two slits can be pushed open at the front of the floor nozzle, which then serve as "entrance gates".

It goes without saying that this is somewhat at the expense of the suction power and that it only helps when vacuuming in "forward gear".

There is a lot of intelligent technology in the floor nozzle, which uses sensors to adjust the suction force depending on the dirt and the surface.

That worked reliably in the test: the Dyson vacuum automatically increased the gas on carpet or sofa cushions and also tickled deep-seated dirt.

When it arrives on parquet or tiles, it reduces the performance and lasts longer.

More width: The large floor nozzle on the Outsize (right in the picture) allows large areas to be vacuumed quickly, where the "small" V11 (left) requires more to and fro

Sucking late with the new Dyson?

Not a good idea when looking at the neighbors!

If he combs the carpet with full force, he drones with up to 100 decibels about as loud as a car horn.

In the quiet eco mode, the volume is significantly reduced, for example to the noise level of a lively conversation (almost 70 dB).

Good: the tried and tested filter system, which, according to Dyson, sucks in almost all of the dust, pollen and bacteria and only gives them back when the filter is cleaned.

Conclusion:

Even the V11 Absolute Extra Pro convinced with good suction power.

The outsize can top that again.

This is ensured by the more powerful motor, the extra-wide floor nozzle and the lush dust box.

This is recommended for tough cleaning devils who often want to vacuum large, free living areas and can also lift the heavy weight of the XXL vacuum cleaner.

A smaller and lighter Dyson is the better choice for petite people or for use in winding apartments.
