  During the Spring Festival Transport in 2021, due to the needs of epidemic prevention and control, local governments have encouraged local Chinese New Year holidays, flexible holidays, and peak-shift and peak-shift travel.

The Guangzhou Spring Festival Transport Office and the railway, civil aviation and other departments predict that overall, the population flow during the Spring Festival this year will be significantly lower than in previous years.   This year, the total number of passengers arriving and departing in Guangzhou during the Spring Festival this year is 36.473 million, a decrease of 38.3% compared to 2019.

Compared with the data of the Spring Festival Transport in 2019, the number of railway passengers is expected to drop by nearly 30%. Civil aviation and highway are expected to drop by 42.4% and 57.1% respectively. The waterway has the largest decline, which is expected to drop by 94.7%.

  Since the first day of the Spring Festival, as of February 1, the total number of passengers arriving and departing in the first five days of the Spring Festival in Guangzhou was 2.266 million, a decrease of 60.3% compared to 2019.

  According to relevant staff of the Guangzhou Spring Festival Transport Office, self-driving trips during the Spring Festival Transport this year are expected to increase, so the pressure on road maintenance will increase.

With the changes in the epidemic prevention and control situation in the Mainland and the adjustment of epidemic prevention and control policies in various places, the passenger flow is expected to fluctuate accordingly.
