Zhu Xueying, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Commissioner of Lanzhou Customs, said that last year the Customs adopted measures to stabilize foreign trade and foreign investment, including optimizing the port’s business environment, increasing policy support, smoothing the international logistics supply chain, and creating a new platform for opening up. Basically maintaining stable development, the total value of imports and exports that year exceeded 37.2 billion yuan, and agricultural products were one of the three major types of export products.
The reporter found out that in the past year, Gansu not only achieved the first export of agricultural products including self-operated live cattle and rainbow trout roe, but also agricultural specialties such as small grains, apples, vegetables, and red dates.
Gansu, a traditional agricultural province, has a diverse climate, abundant sunlight, large temperature difference between day and night, little environmental pollution, and good quality of agricultural products. At present, it has developed six major industries including forest and fruit, vegetables, Chinese medicinal materials, herbivorous livestock, potatoes, and corn seed production.
As one of China's five major pastoral areas, due to the province's advantages such as dry climate, good isolation conditions, and many supporting policies, the scale of standardized animal husbandry has also continued to expand in recent years.
In order to improve local breeds and increase market supply, Gansu introduced breeding sheep and pigs from Australia, Denmark and France last year, and they have been put to various places to exert their effects.
According to Gansu’s official plan, in 2021, Gansu will enlarge the advantages of state-level modern seed production bases such as Zhangye, Dingxi, and Jiuquan, and focus on the protection, utilization and utilization of germplasm resources such as corn, potatoes, Chinese medicinal materials, flowers, vegetables, forage grass, livestock and poultry.
