  Li Yan said that 2021 is the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan" (2021-2025). In the next phase, China will continue to promote wetland protection in an all-round way, and strive to promulgate the "Wetland Protection Law of the People's Republic of China" as soon as possible.   In October 1996, the 19th Standing Committee Meeting of the "Wetland Convention" decided to designate February 2 every year as World Wetland Day, advocating the holding of popular science education and commemorative activities in various ways, publicizing the function and value of wetlands, and improving public protection awareness. Li Yan said that the theme of the 25th World Wetland Day is "Wetlands and Water", emphasizing the important contribution of wetlands to maintaining global freshwater reserves and water quality.
