Some time ago, I started the engine of an Audi car, and there was a report that there was a fire inside the car.

Even though it was found that a fire may have occurred due to a vehicle parts problem as a result of the inspection of the national fruit tree, Audi said that it had to wait for the results of the headquarters investigation and did not compensate for any action.

Reporter Jeon Hyung-woo covered the report.

Choi In-sik, the owner of the Audi A6 manufactured in 2014, had the engine turned on before going to work in December last year, but about 15 minutes later, the car started to smell bad.

[Insik Choi/Audi A6 Owner: Smoke came up slowly, and then the fire suddenly spread and came up.

Meanwhile, the plastic underneath was melted.] The

flames

spread to the

dashboard in front of the passenger seat and to the window of the car, but Choi only evolved with two fire extinguishers.

A fire started inside the vehicle, and a sales agency official who came to the site denied the possibility of a vehicle defect.

[Choi In-sik/Audi A6 Borrower: (A sales agency official) did not accurately analyze the cause of the fire, and said,'A rat may have bitten (a wire), a car may have been flooded.'

'There is no case for compensation in Audi', he said.]

Mr. Choi asked the police to investigate, and the National Institute of Scientific Investigation began to understand.

Until the car was disassembled, the Korean fruit tree made a tentative conclusion last month that the fire appears to have started due to a poor contact with the power connection of the auxiliary heater.

The vehicle has already been recalled for defective parts such as in 2019, but it eventually caught fire.

Even though the results of this consensus came out, Audi delayed compensation, saying that it had to wait for the results of the headquarters investigation.

[Audi official: When a fire breaks out, it is sent to the headquarters (Germany).

Depending on the cause, the head office gives a guide to the customer what to do.] After failing

to provide even minimal support such as rental car to Mr. Choi, SBS informed him of his intention to provide a rental car when they went to the interview.

The Korea Transportation Safety Authority plans to investigate if there are more cases of problems even after being recalled, like a fire vehicle, and take additional measures if necessary.
