It is a virtual ceremony which will mark this Monday, February 1, the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Kosovo.
The agreement will be ratified by video conference with Foreign Minister Gaby Ashkenazi in Israel and Kosovar Foreign Minister Meliza Haradinaj Stublla in Pristina.
A historic moment, says the latter.
This could also be the case for the Israeli side if Kosovo effectively establishes its embassy in Jerusalem as promised.
"
This will strengthen Jerusalem's position as the capital of the State of Israel, something which is now recognized by the United States and a few other countries," said
former Israeli diplomat Avi Pazner.
Maybe Kosovo will be the first Muslim country to establish its embassy in Jerusalem
”.
This new normalization deal for Israel is once again the product of
the Trump administration's diplomacy
.
Kosovo is gaining increased support from the United States, which is important for this former Serbian province which is only recognized by a hundred countries.
The question is whether President Biden's team will continue on this path.
It should be noted that Serbia, which at the same time announced its intention to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, has in the meantime apparently backed down.
