According to a self-assessment of more than 220 companies in Japan regarding DX = digital transformation initiatives that transform operations with digital technology, only 8% of the companies are said to be "company-wide". That was found in a survey by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

In this survey, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry asked manufacturers of automobiles, electric appliances, food products, trading companies, retailers, and other companies in a wide range of industries about the status of DX initiatives, and 223 companies responded this time.

For 35 items such as human resource development and review of business systems, there are 6 levels of DX initiatives, from "0" for "not yet started" to "5" for "winning global competition". Have them self-assess.

As a result, only 8% of the companies had an average of all items exceeding "3" and reached the level of "working on DX company-wide", which was only an improvement of 3 points from the previous survey. I did.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has pointed out that although the introduction of telework has progressed due to the influence of the new coronavirus, efforts to utilize customer data in business remain insufficient.

Yuji Tanabe, Chief of the Information Technology Utilization Promotion Division of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, said, "We would like to support companies by creating a system that makes it easier for the market to evaluate DX initiatives and raise funds."
