As new work styles such as telework spread in response to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, JR East will set up a dedicated vehicle for calling and video conferencing on the Tohoku Shinkansen and will start a demonstration experiment to explore demand from February 1. became.

This demonstration experiment is called "Shinkansen office" and will be conducted by JR East from the 1st on some sections of the Tohoku Shinkansen.

In a dedicated vehicle, you can use your cell phone or laptop to make calls and video conferencing that are not normally allowed in your seat.

In addition to renting out Wi-Fi routers for communication free of charge, in order to protect information, we will make sounds that make it difficult to hear the voice around us.

This dedicated vehicle will be installed on 18 weekdays from 1st to February 26th, both up and down, and there will be no additional charge for using it.

In JR East, the number of Shinkansen users in December last year dropped to about 40% of the same month in the previous year due to the influence of the new coronavirus.

As new work styles spread, we would like to explore the demand for holding meetings while moving in this demonstration experiment, which will lead to the development of new services.
