The government is asking the business community to reduce the number of employees by 70% in areas subject to the state of emergency.

Keidanren announced that, as a result of investigating member companies, the number of employees reduced in the 11 prefectures subject to the declaration is estimated to be 65%, excluding those who have difficulty in teleworking in business. ..

This survey by Keidanren was conducted from the 15th to the 22nd of this month after the state of emergency was expanded to 11 prefectures, and 505 companies, which is 30% of the member companies, responded.

According to this, when asked how much the number of employees could be reduced in 11 prefectures, excluding those who have difficulty in teleworking, such as those in charge of counter operations and manufacturing sites,

▼ "70% or more" was 37%. Although it was the most common,

▼ "50% or more to less than 70%" increased to 27%, and

▼ "less than 50%" also increased to 35%.

Based on these, it is estimated that the number of employees reduced by the companies that responded is about 65%.

Although the introduction of telework is widespread, Keidanren has decided to call on member companies to thoroughly implement telework, as it has not reached the 70% reduction required by the government.

Regarding the results of this survey, Keidanren Chairman Nobuyuki Koga said, "It may be less than when the state of emergency was declared last year, but compared to before the declaration was issued, companies I'm working hard and I don't think there is a sense of crisis. I want to encourage companies to make great use of telework. "
