Among them, the national-level poverty-stricken counties achieved online retail sales of 94.57 billion yuan in the fourth quarter, a year-on-year increase of 30.4%. The main indicators continued to improve and the development momentum continued to increase.

Mainly have the following characteristics:

  1. The growth momentum of e-commerce is obvious.

In terms of quarters, the first to fourth quarters increased by 5.0%, 32.0%, 34.5%, and 30.4% respectively.

In terms of categories, physical online retail sales were 176.97 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 48.0%, and the growth rate was 16.6 percentage points higher than in 2019; service online retail sales were 124.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%.

  2. Physical e-commerce plays a leading role.

In 2020, physical online retail sales accounted for 58.7% of the total online retail sales of national poverty-stricken counties, an increase of 8.7 percentage points from 2019.

Among them, the top three in sales are food and health, home improvement, clothing and apparel. Online retail sales were 88.18 billion yuan, 16.9 billion yuan, and 13.32 billion yuan, an increase of 69.3%, 25.8%, and 9.1% respectively.

The online retail sales of pharmaceuticals, equipment, books, audio and video grew rapidly, with a year-on-year increase of 192.5% and 110.6% respectively.

  3. Service e-commerce has basically returned to the level before the epidemic.

In the fourth quarter, service e-commerce companies turned from negative to positive for the first time in the year.

For the entire year of 2020, online catering online retail sales will be 50.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%.

The online retail sales of game calls and life services were 4.8 billion yuan and 7.53 billion yuan, up 59.7% and 29.5% year-on-year respectively.

Online travel online retail sales were 58.06 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 6.1%.

  4. E-commerce of agricultural products continued to grow rapidly.

In 2020, the online retail sales of agricultural products in national poverty-stricken counties was 40.66 billion yuan, an increase of 43.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 14.6% higher than that in 2019, reflecting that more farmers are turning offline agricultural products into online sales.

Among them, the online retail sales of herbal medicines, fruits, and tea drinks were 11.25 billion yuan, 8.78 billion yuan, and 7.59 billion yuan, up 39.9%, 68.8%, and 36.5% year-on-year.

  5. Rural e-commerce has achieved remarkable results in helping poverty alleviation. Faced with the impact of the epidemic, rural e-commerce has become a good helper for farmers to sell agricultural and sideline products and purchase daily necessities. Many migrant workers and college students who cannot return to work and school in time have used e-commerce to achieve local entrepreneurship and employment. As of the end of 2020, the total number of online merchants in national poverty-stricken counties reached 3.065 million, an increase of 366,000 or 13.7% from 2019.
