A meeting of experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has announced a new policy so that you can use your existing email address even if you switch mobile phone contracts.

By making it easier to switch mobile phones, we hope to promote competition and reduce prices.

The so-called carrier mail set by the mobile phone company can no longer be used when the mobile phone contractor is switched.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has asked three major mobile phone companies to take action, saying that this is one of the reasons why mobile phone switching is not progressing.

At the meeting of experts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications held on the 27th, based on the results of discussions between the three companies, a new policy was announced so that carrier mail can be used as it is even if the contractor is switched.

In this, even if the contract destination of the mobile phone is switched, if the user wishes, the company before the change manages the e-mail so that the existing e-mail address can be used.

However, in that case, since it costs mail management costs, collecting the costs is not hindered if it is within a reasonable range.

In addition, at the conference, a proposal was also presented that a major mobile phone company would, in principle, ban "SIM lock," which allows smartphones to be used only by contracted companies.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications wants to promote competition and reduce prices by making it easier to switch contracts.
