According to the Real Estate Economic Research Institute, a private research firm, the number of newly built condominiums launched in the Tokyo metropolitan area last year was 27,228, a decrease of 12.8% from the previous year.

It is the first time in 28 years since 1992 that the number of households fell below 30,000.

The main reason is that the model rooms were closed one after another due to the influence of the new coronavirus.
