"Dubai Tourism": Increased violations behind the "temporary suspension" of entertainment activities

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai (Dubai Tourism) stated that it took the decision to temporarily suspend entertainment activities in hotel establishments and restaurants, yesterday, as a direct result of the increase in the number of violations during the establishment of recreational activities, and the failure to adhere to the precautionary measures and preventive measures to address the "Covid-19" pandemic, As inspection visits monitored that some facilities do not require their residents to wear a mask, and the social distancing measures in place within the approved health protocols.

The department indicated that the decision includes the suspension of activities, artistic performances, live bands, and music coordinators, in restaurants and beach clubs.

Regarding the existence of a specific timeframe for the suspension decision, Dubai Tourism confirmed that it continuously assesses the emerging situation, in cooperation and coordination with the competent health authorities, and accordingly, appropriate measures are taken.

Regarding the possibility of imposing additional precautionary measures in hotels and restaurants at the present time, the department stated that “the safety of everyone is among our priorities. That is why, since the beginning of the crisis, we have imposed all preventive measures and precautionary measures on all restaurants and tourist facilities, and we are keen on continuous follow-up with everyone to ensure compliance with these measures. , While strict penalties will be imposed on all violators ».

She explained that the inspection visits - carried out by the «Dubai Tourism» - include all regions and all parts of the city, and we are keen to intensify our patrols according to the events and activities, and the occupancy rate in the various tourist facilities, to ensure compliance by everyone.

During the past three weeks, the number of inspection visits to hotel and recreational facilities reached more than 3,100, during which more than 200 violations were recorded, while the compliance rate reached 93.5%.
