Honda has agreed to collaborate with GM General Motors of the United States to develop a carpooling service called ride sharing using self-driving cars in Japan.

According to the announcement, Honda and GM will first conduct a demonstration experiment on public roads in Japan for an autonomous driving vehicle that is being jointly developed.

In the future, we aim to develop a shared ride service called ride sharing in Japan using a dedicated self-driving car.

It is said that the start time of the ride sharing service is undecided, but it is said that we will consider expanding it not only in urban areas but also in rural areas where public transportation is scarce.

Regarding next-generation transportation services that utilize self-driving cars, Toyota Motor Corporation unveiled a system that controls multiple cars at the same time, aiming not only for the movement of people but also for logistics and store use, as well as IT companies. Development is in full swing, including the entry of the company.
