The generalization of teleworking is starting to have very concrete consequences on the use of office space in companies.

As Europe 1 has observed, more and more of them are reducing their number of square meters reserved for face-to-face.

The result: significant savings.

This is one of the many consequences of the Covid-19 health crisis for businesses.

With the spread of teleworking, the latter are starting to review the management of their offices.

For some, the objective is clearly to reduce the airfoil.

No more exorbitant rents when most employees work from home?

In real estate, anyway, the office was not the star product last year.

According to data from Immostat, the number of sales has been halved.

400,000 euros in savings per year for a Parisian business firm

In Île-de-France, the rented space has melted like snow in the sun.

And some companies have therefore sold their usual premises.

Europe 1 found that a Parisian business firm had swapped its 900 square meters of offices for a room of only 25 m2.

Savings made thanks to the operation: 400,000 euros per year.

For its part, the audit firm PwC has merged three offices into one thanks to a system of rotation of its teams between telework and face-to-face.

According to Benjamin Ribault, partner in charge of employee experience at PwC, this decision was not made solely for financial reasons.

Admittedly, "it is a source of savings which is appreciable", he explains Monday on Europe 1. "But behind there are also costs, in particular the equipment to be able to work from home: a second screen of computer, having an office chair that is as comfortable as possible ... "The manager also indicates the need to" invest in all training subjects "concerning management, for example.

At the car manufacturer PSA, this approach to limit the office space is assumed.

Teleworking is encouraged to the maximum.

By 2022, the company hopes to reduce its number of occupied square meters by 30%.

Last September, it already proceeded with the outright abolition of its head office.
