A decrease in the prices of "housing" and "transportation" in Dubai by 6.21% and 6.71%, respectively

The consumer price index in Dubai witnessed a decline for the second year in a row, as it decreased by 3.02% last year compared to 2019, when it decreased by 2.98%.

A report issued by the Dubai Statistics Center, yesterday, stated that this is due to the decrease in the prices of goods and services in the consumer basket, as the decrease was led by the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel section, which decreased by 6.21% and decreased the index by 2.58 points, while the transport section witnessed a decrease of its percentage. 6.71%, which reduced the index by 0.74 points, while the entertainment and culture division decreased by 10.27%, which reduced the index by 0.21 points, and the clothing and footwear division recorded a decrease in prices by 3.36%, which reduced the index by 0.07 points, while the miscellaneous goods and services division decreased. At a rate of 0.41%, which reduced the index by 0.02 points.

On the other hand, the food and beverage division recorded an increase in the average prices by 2.81%, which pushed the index by 0.36 points, while the prices of the education section increased by 1.38%, which pushed the index by 0.13 points, and the tobacco division by 13.78%, which pushed the index by 0.08 points.
