Despite the modesty of financial resources due to the economic crisis and the disorganization of the State, the authorities are fighting on all fronts to try to slow the progression of the pandemic which makes Lebanon one of the countries most affected by the
Covid-19
.
On the second day of reinforced and globally respected containment, the Lebanese Parliament approved, Friday, January 15, a law regulating the import of the
vaccine
.
This condition is required by the companies producing the treatment in order to legally protect themselves in the event of damage or unwanted side effects.
Start of vaccination in February
A few hours later, the President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, signed a decree releasing a sum intended to buy 2,700,000 doses of vaccine.
The vaccination campaign for 20% of the population is due to start around mid-February.
At the same time, the government paid private hospitals the sum of $ 7 million which constitutes part of the debt owed by the State to the private hospital sector.
This measure aims to encourage private hospitals to open intensive care units to accommodate more patients with coronavirus.
Finally, to mitigate the consequences of the total closure of the country on the most underprivileged, the army was instructed to pay $ 50 to more than 250,000 families.
