Birgit Dietze would like to talk to Tesla boss Elon Musk about a lot.

She is the head of IG Metall in the Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony district.

And the world's fourth so-called Gigafactory of the electric car manufacturer is currently being built.

The tranquil community of Grünheide, a few kilometers east of the capital, is to become part of the tech visionary's success story.

Musk plans to have half a million cars built here per year as early as 2022, with around 12,000 new jobs initially planned. This is actually good news for Germany as a business location. But for Dietze and her union, the project is also about something else: the question of power.
