Amazon has been one of the few winners of 2020, as
the increase in e-commerce in the months of confinement made it necessary to hire more people
than had been planned for this year, so that the North American giant ended the year with 12,000 employees 5,000 more than a year earlier and 3,000 more than estimated.
The new positions created are of different profiles, from entry level positions in operations to software developers and engineers, business managers, data scientists and machine learning ...
"It is a clear vote of confidence in the Spanish economy
, with the hope that we can contribute to accelerating the recovery after the pandemic", highlighted Mariangela Marseglia, Vice President and General Director for Italy and Spain.
Amazon's current network in Spain covers more than 28 different work centers.
In 2020 alone, the company opened two new logistics centers in Dos Hermanas (Seville) and Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), as well as three logistics stations in Murcia, Rubí (Barcelona) and Leganés (Madrid).
In addition to these permanent jobs,
Amazon hired 7,000 people for the last Christmas campaign
.
To recognize work, permanent and temporary operations employees who were with the company from December 1 to December 31 will receive a bonus of 300 euros for those who work full time, and a prorated bonus for those who work part time .
