Airlines have decided to significantly reduce the number of flights by next month due to the expansion of the scope of emergency declarations.

From January 19th to 31st, ANA will reduce flights to 6405 on 108 routes and Japan Airlines will reduce flights to 5159 on 83 routes, including those that have announced reductions.

In February, ANA will have 106 routes and 9167 flights, and Japan Airlines will have 91 routes and 11,387 flights, both of which are about half of the original plan.

Both companies will be able to change to another flight for all domestic routes until February 7th during the state of emergency, and receive a full refund.

Airlines have been forced to reduce flights as demand is expected to decline as the spread of the new coronavirus infection has not stopped.
