National Statistical Office said that the number of employed last year was 26.94,000, a decrease of 218,000 from 2019.



This is the largest decline since 1998, when 1.27 million people fell due to the financial crisis.



The decline in the number of employed has been 11 years since 2009, just after the global financial crisis.



By age, only 375,000 people in their 60s or older increased, but the number of employed decreased in all age groups.



By industry, face-to-face service industries such as wholesale and retail, lodging and restaurant, and education service were hit directly.



On the other hand, the number of employed has increased in the health industry and transportation warehousing industry that have contributed to the response to Corona 19.



Last year, the number of unemployed people increased by 45,000 from 2019, reaching 1.18,000, the highest since 2000.



The unemployment rate was also the highest since 2001, recording 4%, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous year.



The number of employees employed in December last year, announced today by the National Statistical Office, decreased by nearly 630,000 from the same month last year.
