Employees of the private security company Securitas have repeatedly suffered electric shocks while working at the security gates at the newly opened BER airport.
The service union Ver.di therefore called on Monday to suspend passenger controls on the affected devices in Terminal 1 of the airport.
On January 6th alone there were eleven documented cases, four cases led to a rescue operation.
According to Ver.di, the federal police are responsible for the devices.
According to Ver.di, there have already been over 60 accidents.
Those affected complained of pain, numbness and drowsiness.
Those affected were taken to surrounding hospitals several times, and passengers were also at risk if they came into contact with the baggage control equipment at Terminal 1.
The work on the devices must therefore be stopped, demanded Ver.di.
"Due to the already very low number of passengers, the suspension of control activities in Terminal 1 would not even result in restrictions on air traffic," said the responsible department manager at Ver.di, Benjamin Roscher.
With the old Schönefeld Airport, there would also be sufficient alternative capacities.

A spokeswoman for the federal police responsible for the devices said that the authorities had "taken immediate action" on December 12 after receiving relevant information.
According to an expert report, all systems correspond to "the applicable standards and recognized rules of technology".
The Federal Police therefore recommend the use of conductive floors and "regular damp wiping of the floor" as possible countermeasures.
A "change in the clothing materials of the operating personnel" should also be considered, the spokeswoman said.
