“Due to the action of the damper, the currently observed increase in wholesale prices for fuel on the exchange will be smoothed out within a month or two, which will ensure price stability for end consumers,” the message says.

The Finance Ministry stressed that the rise in fuel prices this year should not exceed the inflation rate.

It is clarified that in 2018 a damper mechanism was developed, which is to ensure stable prices for consumers in retail at gas stations, regardless of the level of oil prices. 

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that AI-92 gasoline in 2020 rose in price in Russia by about 2%, which is significantly lower than the inflation rate.
