This was reported on the ministry's website.

It is noted that "the increase in retail prices for AI-92 gasoline in Russia in 2020 amounted to 2%, with a preliminary estimate of inflation at 4.9%."

The ministry said that “in order to prevent a shortage of gasoline at filling stations and, accordingly, an economically unjustified rise in prices on the Russian market, the Ministry of Energy of Russia, together with the FAS Russia and professional market participants, as part of the work of the operational headquarters, constantly monitors the production and shipments of fuel to the domestic market and export".

The Ministry of Energy said that "in 2020, the consumption of class 5 motor gasoline in Russia decreased by 5.6% compared to the level of 2019."

“During 2020, there was a decline in the production of petroleum products.

At the same time, the required level of fuel reserves at refineries and petroleum product supply enterprises in all regions of Russia was maintained.

As business activity increases in various regions and certain restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic ease, there is a recovery in demand for motor gasoline in the domestic market.

Production volumes are sufficient to cover domestic demand and maintain the required reserves, ”the statement says.

Earlier, economist and financial analyst Vitaly Kalugin, in an interview with URA.RU, gave a forecast for gasoline prices in Russia in 2021.
