New energy installed capacity accounts for more than 60% of photovoltaics becomes the largest power source in Qinghai

Science and Technology Daily, Xining, January 10 (Reporter Zhang Yun, Correspondent Wang Hongxia) The reporter learned from State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company on the 10th that by the end of 2020, the total installed capacity of Qinghai Power Grid reached 40.3 million kilowatts, of which 24.45 million kilowatts of new energy were installed, accounting for The ratio exceeds 60% of the total installed capacity of the entire network, reaching 60.7%. Photovoltaics surpasses hydropower to become the largest power source in the province.

At the same time, with the expansion of the installed capacity of new energy, the clean energy installed capacity of Qinghai Power Grid has reached 36.38 million kilowatts, accounting for more than 90%.

Located in the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Qinghai is known as the "Source of Three Rivers" and "Chinese Water Tower". It has abundant clean energy resources such as water power, wind and light, and has outstanding advantages in the development of clean energy.

Under the implementation of the new development concept of "ecological protection first", Qinghai is vigorously building a national clean energy demonstration province and building two tens of millions of kilowatt-level renewable energy bases in the west of the Strait and Hainan.

On December 30, 2020, the world's first new energy long-distance transmission channel Qinghai-Henan ±800 kV UHV DC project was completed and put into operation.

This project is the first UHV transmission channel planned and constructed by the State Grid Corporation of China to support the large-scale development of Qinghai's new energy.

This UHV channel project and supporting new energy transmission and transformation projects have been successively constructed and put into operation, which strongly supports Qinghai's energy pillar industry, green industry development and poverty alleviation.

In 2020, Qinghai Power Grid will add 87 new grid-connected new energy stations with an installed capacity of 8.61 million kilowatts. Qinghai's two tens of millions of kilowatt renewable energy bases will be fully completed.

The increase in installed capacity of new energy will also enable Qinghai's clean energy power generation to reach 84.7 billion kWh in 2020, of which new energy power generation will reach 24.9 billion kWh.

84.7 billion kWh of clean electricity is equivalent to replacing 38.11 million tons of raw coal, promoting 62.68 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and promoting energy conservation and emission reduction.

Affected by economic growth and extreme cold weather, the load level of Qinghai Power Grid has grown rapidly. Since November 2020, Qinghai Power Grid has achieved a record high of 19 times for its maximum electricity load and 17 times for daily electricity consumption.

On December 29, 2020, Qinghai New Energy's daily power generation reached a record high.

Fang Baomin, director of the dispatch control center of State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company, said that new energy has promoted the consumption in the province and provided strong support for stable power supply. This is inseparable from the continuous increase in construction of Qinghai Power Grid and the development of new energy industries.
