MG EHS Plug-In -

With the EHS, the thinking heads of MG have not really taken any risks with regard to the style, very close to that of the ZS, the 100% electric model of the brand.

Regardless, the new SUV is pleasing to the eye and sports a sleek line.

MG's desire to offer products adapted to the Old Continent is felt very strongly, and we can say that the manufacturer has spared no efforts to offer a product that holds up.

This feeling of maturity is also felt in the cabin, which has nothing to envy that of models of much more established brands.

The look is pleasant, the materials (foamed plastics, metal buttons, etc.) rather flattering and the ergonomics without fail, except for the driver's seat placed a little too high if you are more than 1.80 meters tall.

Let's be frank, there are still a few small details that annoy, such as some hard plastics, fortunately not very visible, or the navigation a little slow.

In terms of roominess, the rear passengers are even better off than those in the front, as the legroom is generous.

And with a capacity of 448 liters, the trunk offers a very decent space.

Convincing mechanics

Under the hood of the EHS is a 1.5 turbo petrol engine producing 162 horsepower and a 122 horsepower electric motor, for a systemic output of 258 horsepower.

Thanks to its large batteries, this SUV announces a range of 52 kilometers according to WLTP standards.

On the road, the first good news is that the MG is very quiet thanks to an excellent job done on its soundproofing and its running gear.

This aspect further reinforces the impression of quality of the car, a feeling further amplified by very flexible suspensions which promote comfort.

Fortunately, the English (remember that MG now belongs to the Chinese giant SAIC, but that the adjustments still take place in England) have found a good compromise.

So failing to behave like a GTI, the EHS does not suffer from any particular criticism as to its cash movements.

In use, the MG also amazes by the imperceptible nature of its changes in propulsion mode.

Even the heat engine remains silent, even under full acceleration.

Realistic autonomy

Even if its power may seem important, the MG EHS does not impress with its performance, as its hushed comfort erases the sensations.

But do not believe that it is not interesting to drive, far from it.

The icing on the cake, the 52 km range in electric mode does not seem to be a vain promise.

In short, the MG EHS Plug-in does its job entirely.

And here is the best.

The base price is around 34,000 €, which is, with comparable equipment and power, 6,000 euros less than the competitors of Peugeot or VW for example.

Add to that a 7 year or 150,000 km warranty and the proposition almost sounds too good to be true.

And yet ...
