The new high-speed, large-capacity communication standard 5G will greatly expand the area in which it can be used.

Cheaper rate plans are planned to be introduced, and it seems that there will be momentum for the full-scale spread of 5G.

5G, which features high speed and large capacity, was launched by major mobile phone companies last year, but due to the limited area available, each company plans to accelerate the development of base stations.

The population coverage rate of the available area is expected to increase to 55% for DoCoMo and 90% for KDDI and Softbank, including areas where the communication speed remains at the same level as 4G due to the frequency used.

Regarding 5G, DoCoMo and Softbank are planning to introduce a cheap rate plan from this spring in response to the government's request for price reduction.

In addition, smartphones compatible with 5G have been released one after another, and terminals from major manufacturers have been released, so this is likely to give momentum to the full-scale spread of 5G.
