On December 31, at the Lhasa-Nyingchi section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway (hereinafter referred to as the Lalin Railway) at the Linzhi Station track laying site, the last 25-meter rail row was laid, marking the completion of the Lalin Railway main track.

  The Lalin Railway runs through the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone between the Gangdise block and the Himalaya block of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. More than 90% of the entire line is located in the plateau area above 3000 meters above sea level.

The construction of the project was started at the end of 2014, and the construction began in October 2017.

  The main line of Lalin Railway is 435.5 kilometers long. The newly-built main line is 403.1 kilometers. It is a single-track electrified Class I railway with a design speed of 160km/h.

The whole line has a base of 102.2 kilometers, 120 bridges and 47 tunnels, with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of 74.66%; 34 new stations are newly built, and 17 stations are initially opened.

The total construction period of the whole line is 7 years, and the total estimated investment in the preliminary design is 36.674 billion yuan.
