While the Italian group Fincantieri has been planning for three years to buy the Chantiers de l'Atlantique, the unions are still mobilized against this project.

At the microphone of Europe 1 Wednesday, the secretary of the Force Ouvrière section, Nathalie Durant-Prinborgne, denounced the upcoming absorption of the French group by one of its competitors.

The Italian group Fincantieri obtained on Wednesday from the French government a fifth deadline to finalize the takeover of Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire.

A month's stay due to the slowdown in the procedures for examining the company's offer.

The file is strategic because an alliance of the Italians with the Chinese of CSCC could create a breach in the European preserve of the construction of large cruise ships.

At the microphone of Europe 1 Wednesday, the secretary of the FO section Nathalie Durant-Prinborgne testified to her opposition to the takeover: "We don't want Fincantieri at the helm of this company."

The union said in particular "in disagreement with the contract [...] of technology transfer with the Chinese shipyard CSCC".

In this context, the postponement granted by the government further escalates the weariness of construction site employees.

"It's a soap opera that will never end at this rate," storms Nathalie Durant-Prinborgne.

"It will be three years that it lasts. It is time, for the employees, the subcontractors and our customers, that this story is ended once and for all."

"We are a healthy company"

According to Nathalie Durant-Prinborgne, in the hollow is emerging the etiolation of the activity of the sites.

"We are afraid of ending up doing nothing but ocean liner. And that, we know that is no longer possible for a shipyard like ours."

The union representative anticipates the total absorption of the Atlantic sites by one of her direct competitors.

"We see how it goes when there is a rapprochement between two competitors. Usually there is always one which crushes the other completely," she regrets.

The union is now calling for the state to be maintained as the majority shareholder, "with the shareholding as it is today".

Nathalie Durant-Prinborgne argues for the viability of the site: "We are a healthy company with balanced accounts, this series has lasted too long, it is time to put an end to it."
