was announced at the high-ranking party council today (27th) that the corona vaccination will begin in Korea in February of next year.

There is also a prospect that the timing of the formation of collective immunity will be similar to that of foreign countries or rather faster, but the question is whether we can secure enough vaccines to form collective immunity, and how quickly can the people get hit?

This is a report by Park Chan-geun.

President Roh Young-min, the chief secretary of the president, attended the high-ranking party government meeting held in the National Assembly today and specifically mentioned the timing of the Corona 19 vaccination.

[Roh Young-min/President's Secretary's Office: In February next year, the (Corona 19 vaccine) vaccination will begin for medical staff and the elderly.]

He said he plans to sign a contract so that 120% of the people can meet the amount

of vaccine, starting in the

second quarter of next year. I predicted that the vaccination would begin for the general public.

Mr. Roh predicted that the timing of the formation of group immunity would be similar to that of foreign countries or rather faster.

Since countries around the world are planning to start vaccination for the general public in the second quarter of next year, it is possible if we get the vaccination time as early as possible.

However, some point out that in order for collective immunity to be formed, more than half of the population must be correct, and additional verification is needed to determine how long the antibody is maintained after it is made.

[Eom Joong-sik/Professor of Infectious Medicine, Gachon University Gil Hospital: There is inevitably a time difference between those who received the vaccine first and those who received the later vaccine. It will also be an important part of whether the antibody is maintained after vaccination enough to overcome this time difference. ]

Currently, Janssen, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer vaccines are being reviewed in advance by the government.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to shorten the screening period required for domestic use of Corona 19 vaccines and treatments to 40 days, and shorten the processing period for national shipment approval of vaccines, which normally took 2-3 months, to within 20 days, thereby maximizing the time for vaccination.
