As TASS writes with reference to the company's message, the pandemic had a negative impact on the LNG industry.

“The pandemic of the new coronavirus infection negatively affected the development prospects of the global LNG industry, the forecast for the commissioning of new capacities for its production in the world has been reduced,” the statement said.

At the same time, the company added that the demand for LNG is expected to continue to grow in the future.

“Russia has sufficient resource potential to increase LNG production,” added Gazprom.

In October, the former Russian Energy Minister and now Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that in the future the country will be able to increase its share of the world liquefied natural gas (LNG) market to 25%.
